The beginning
I was 21 years old and pregnant. Once I turned 16, I thought I would keep my baby if I got pregnant even though I had learned about adoption in high school. The first step was getting medical help. They told me about help for unwed mothers. I then went to the library and started researching my options. I found a book about open adoption. I read the book and liked the story. It gave me hope and a direction to go in. I had broken up with my boyfriend because he drank too much and didn't work. I met him in the library one day and let him know I was pregnant. I also told him that I felt adoption was the best option. He said he wanted to keep the baby but I was the mom and I knew what was best. He had tried to get me back. I just didn't see a future for us. I love to a different city. I found an adoption agency and started to process of finding a family for my baby. I was also told that something was off and I needed to go for an ultrasound. They counseled me on possible birth defects. Only it turned out I was pregnant with twins. And they were healthy! I was worried no one would want to adopt twins! The adoption agency said they had a single mom and they thought she would be perfect. It was time to start the process of meeting her.
