The Choice
There are books with personal information pages. They include a picture and why the birth mother would want to pick them as parents. I am not sure if I could have ever picked. The agency gave me the profile of a single mom. She was a school teacher. They talked to her and she was more than willing to adopt twins. I met her at the agency and she took me out to eat. We talked a lot and she was willing to let me be a part of the twin's life. I knew I was having girls. Placing a child for adoption is emotional and traumatic. There was so much consideration and of course waiting. November 11, 1992, I gave birth to identical twin girls. I spent a couple days in the hospital and then said goodbye. I was blessed. I got to see the girls one more time in the motel as they waited to go home. The adoptive mother had a foster care license so she could take the kids home with her right away. I set up an open adoption. In the beginning, I was seeing the twins twice a year. I even got to visit them at their home. My girls grew up knowing who I was. There is so much more to add. I can only write a little at a time as my arms get sore from typing.
